"We arrived in Chiang Rai by bus and were at the bus terminal, where the nights are markets dropped from there we walked through the city towards an area where there is a cluster of guest houses, including Buan Bua, theproved to be a little uncomfortable. Instead, we found the new Orchid Guest House. The staff could not be more welcoming and the room was great. But all the screws on the inside of the door and windows, and the places selling padlocks on the way there was a little confusing. If this is done, we let out a huge pile of laundry on the road then off to explore the city. There is a small but friendly place. We visited the Hill Tribe Museum and Education Center, in the third Stock wasby an ugly concrete building. The museum had a large display, focusing heavily on the history of opium in the Golden Triangle region, but also gave plenty of information about the different hill tribes near Chiang Rai, where they are, their cultural differences and so on came. It was fascinating. The ground floor has a cafe / restaurant called Cabbages & Condoms, where profits for the HIV / AIDS education used. There's a lot of foreigners are here compared to Japan and China. Bangkok is surprisingly modern and clean, a very beautiful city. We have not eaten much Thai food, GreennV nice curries. We went to the movies and had, before the film for the Thai National Anthem are! Why do they do that in the UK / BVI / Canada? Seroiusly but they are very patriotic. We flew down to Phuket (they say Foo-warp), to have a break from temples and museums and the big cities. We have seen a bit of rain, but it was generally very nice. We played mini golf (or mini-putt for the Canadians) in a bizarre dinosaur themed amusement park. We have seen a couple ofBeaches that are beautiful, but not as clean as the BVI beaches. We found out a nice pension from aa German / Thai couple. Our original "bungalow" has no hot water, so we decided, for obvious reasons upgrade. We're in a town called kata, which is full of Scandanavian, Swedish flags, and there are blond people all over the place! Julie went scuba diving and snorkeling, I have a little bit. Entry from: Bangkok, Thailand entry title: "Arrival in Bangkok as" Entry: "I am now 5 days into my trip, but thought I would go back and start at the beginning I was in Bangkok as clock at 3 in the morning after a good 28th hours uneventful trip-in fact I would say it was slightly better than expected for the sole fact that I managed to get to an exitRow with no seat in front of my leg for 14 hours to Tokyo. Many crying babies on board, but I'll trade that stretched every day for the luxury of my legs! My hotel in Bangkok as (The Royal President) was pretty swanky, especially compared to where I am now and what I imagine I'm in for the rest of the trip. My experience started pretty well, apart from miserably hot, and feeling completely out of my element, not knowing how to do it anywhere or anything. Since it was a Saturday, I haveagreed to some of the Chatuchak weekend is air-conditioned market, accessible through the sky train very well. It took a while to figure out how to buy the ticket (if the woman at the cash register handed me back a few coins after I told her where I wanted, I stood there trying to sort through them to find out what was the token until they told me I'd buy a ticket from the machine behind me ... aaaah!), but I made it is no problem with success!
