Dressed in his signature Spanish-era Jose Rizal Celdran costume was in the store 5 of the Metropolitan Trial Court indictedAlleged violation of Article 133 of the Revised Penal Code, which prohibits insulting religious feelings. He was accompanied by fans wearing the controversial Damaso shirts. Celdran was arrested after he held a sign reading "Damaso" in the middle of the sermon at the Manila Cathedral last 30 September. "Damaso" refers to Padre Damaso, an abusive priest who is a character in Jose Rizal's novel Noli Me Tangere.
